Deletion – Injectable and Solvents

The remaining solvent for injections, Sodium Chloride injection 9mg per mL (0.9%), 10mL, item codes 2026P and 5211G (Dental), has been deleted from the September 2012 PBS Schedule.

Prescriptions written for the combination injectable and solvent items prior to 1 September 2012 and supplied after 1 September 2012 are valid for payment and should be claimed under the remaining injectable item code.

For example:

Prescription for combination injectable & solvent code 7079N – Cefepime powder for injection 1g (as hydrochloride) with Sodium Chloride solvent
Claim as injectible code 8315P – Cefepime powder for injection 1g (as hydrochloride)

As the solvents are no longer pharmaceutical benefits prescriptions will be reimburse for the injectable item only.
