Maximum Quantity, Description and Pack Size Changes

The following changes take effect on 1 July 2010:

  • For Metformin Hydrochloride tablet 500mg (extended release), item code 9435N, brands Diabex XR (AL), Diaformin XR (AF) and Metex XR (SI), the pricing pack size changes from 1 to 120 with no change to the commonwealth price to pharmacist. The listed maximum quantity changes from 1 to 120.
  • For Mesalazine, suppository 1g, item code 8752P, brand Pentasa (FP), the pricing pack size changes from 1 to 28 with no change to the commonwealth price to pharmacist. The listed maximum quantity changes from 1 to 28.

Pack Size Changes

The following changes take effect on 1 July 2010:

  • For Cyproheptadine hydrochloride, tablet 4mg, item code 1798P, brand Periactin (AS), the pricing pack size changes from 50 to 100 with a change to the commonwealth price to pharmacist. There is no change to the listed maximum quantity of 100.
  • For Pyridostigmine bromide, tablet 180mg (modified release), item code 2608G, brand Mestinon Timespan (VT), the pricing pack size changes from 100 to 50 with a change to the commonwealth price to pharmacist. There is no change to the listed maximum quantity of 100.

Special Pricing Arrangements – Abacavir Sulfate and Fosamprenavir Calcium

The Department of Health and Ageing have advised that from 1 July 2010 reimbursement to pharmacists for Abacavir Sulfate (6264Q) and Fosamprenavir Calcium (6453P) will be based on the PBS listed dispensed price for maximum quantity in the July 2010 PBS Schedule and associated update files.
